#1. GARDEN OPPORTUNITY EMPOWERMENT ZONES LISTING

CHOOSE THE OPPORTUNITY EMPOWERMENT ZONE YOU ARE INTERESTED IN
Below is a list of all the Opportunity Empowerment Zones in the garden. To be accepted as an Underwriting Sponsor for a zone, we've provided the amount needed, or the full product/service needed to make the zone a reality. A financial contribution will be consider a donation when it fall short of the total amount needed to complete the zone. Any product and/or service that falls short of the full completion of the zone will be considered an InKind donation. All support will receive reciprocal marketing and exposure based on the value of the support.

#2. CHOOSE YOUR COMMITMENT LEVEL

Under each Opportunity Empowerment Zone we've provided the approximate value of the project to make the Opportunity Empowerment Zone a reality. Also under each zone is the option to provide the full value of product and service to complete the Opportunity Empowerment Zone. Please check the box that best addresses your commitment.
BCG U3 - RETROFIT & BUILDOUT OF 20' FT SHIPPING CONTAINER - VALUE $50,000
This zone focuses on total retrofit and buildout of the 20ft. container, already on-site, This indoor, air-conditioned space will provide a refuge from the weather, and will open up to the garden, expanding our program area, while offering a much needed restroom for the garden.
BCG U4 - POWER ENERGY SOURCE & SOLAR - VALUE $15,000
As an organic environmentally conscious garden, This zone supports bringing electrical power to the garden by installing and setting up a solar system atop the onsite, 20ft. container. Solar is a clean, quiet and a safe economical energy source.
BCG U5 - RAIN BARRELS & WATER SYSTEM- VALUE $10,000
The best environmentally-friendly source of water for crops is rain water. This zone pays for a full rain water system, that collects and connects to crops throughout the garden, by utilizing our 20 ft. container as the primary collection source.
BCG U6 - ALUMINUM FENCING & GATING - VALUE $7,000
The Garden currently has old chain link fencing that surround the 9000 Sq.Ft. garden. This zone funds the installation of aluminum fencing on two sides of the garden that are adjacent to street with traffic -- Airline Drive (a main street) and 32nd Street (a side residential street). This funding includes a few access gates.
BCG U7 - GARDEN BED CONSTRUCTION - VALUE $10,000
The Garden currently has old chain link fencing t This zone focuses on the creation of above ground garden beds Six (4 x 8' x 36") and Ten (4 x 10 x 36"). These beds will be built up and framed to provide an accessible and comfortable height for all ages, it will expand the garden's sitting area, will support crop health, and will provide a cohesive look throughout the garden.
BCG U8 - COMPOST BINS EXPANSION & IMPROVEMENT - VALUE $650
As an organic and environmentally friendly garden, composting helps to keep our soil healthy and biologically active. Composting has several environmental benefits such as--reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and serves to recycle nutrients. We want to upgrade our compost area and process by adding more bins and a mesh sifter into our process to obtain a higher quality compost.
BCG U9 - GARDEN EDUCATIONAL SIGNAGE - VALUE $3,500
As an educational community garden we will be standardizing how plants are labeled. Larger signs throughout the garden will help visitors navigate the various planting areas, learn about the plants--how to care for them, the nutrients they provide and how they are prepared and used. Eventually we will expand learning by incorporating QR codes.
BCG U11 - MAIN ENTRI-WAY OPENING & WELCOME SIGN - VALUE $6,000
We'd like to create a unique opening and Welcome sign that feels welcoming to visitors when they come to the garden. Part of the front gate opening will be a rolling structure that will provide security when we aren't present, and will be easy to open and close.
BCG U12 - HARD GROUND COVER THROUGHOUT GARDEN - VALUE $7,500
Throughout the garden we are raising funds for a ground cover that will repel weeds, provide for good drainage, and be comfortable as a walking path throughout the garden.
BCG U13 - BRICKS, PAVERS & TRIM FOR GARDEN BED - VALUE $9,000
Our garden beds will be built up and framed to provide a cohesive look. Their height will provide easy access for all ages, and expands the garden's sitting area and classroom space.
BCG U14 - STAND ALONE GARDEN BEDS WITH GREEN HOUSE COVERINGS - VALUE $7,500
Currently all the above ground planters areas are susceptible to Houston's harsh elements (sun, high temperatures, and rain).This zone funds a "hoop culture" through out the garden providing year-round protection to crops against intense sunlit and frost.
BCG U15 - THE GARDEN'S BULLETIN BOARD - VALUE $1,200
This is the communication hub within the Garden. This stand-alone board will provide class updates, Upcoming events, feature plants, and links to what's going on in the garden. Included is the who's who at the garden, and a space highlighting sponsors that contributed to the garden's success.
BCG U18 - PORTA-POTTY FOR THE GARDEN - VALUE $5,250
This zone provides a full time porta potty and servicing at the garden. This will open up more opportunities for the garden to expand its programming to more groups. The full amount requested covers a three year comment with a once a week service.
