Women Nourishing Mind, Body & Soul

March 23 @ 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Description

Women Nourishing Mind, Body & Soul

Meet Women Making History Today!

  • Join us as we learn how Women have been, and are making history today!

    • Join speaker, Dr. Cindy Ayers-Elliott, a phenomenal woman, making farm history today, and who owns the largest urban farm in Mississippi. After a successful business career, her Mississippi roots called her back home to give back to the community that nourished her. She now provides fresh food and has helped bring economic empowerment to the citizens of her home state. You’ll be inspired and leave with substantive takeaways that provide resources to grow your capacity.
    • But wait, there’s more!

    • As part of our Rooted in Wellness cooking demo, join award-winning, Executive Chef Tarsha Gary, who will prepare in-season, fresh, home-cooked garden bites, and expose how food has, and is being used as medicine
    • Women are the secret weapons of society. Soft, delicate, and powerfully equipped to impact the world. You will be inspired, empowered, and invigorated as we celebrate the contributions of women yesterday, and women making history today.

Beauty's Community Garden is located at 3201 Airline @ E. 32nd Street, in Independence Heights–the first African American municipality in Texas.  Our mission is to close the gap on food inequities and achieve a community culture of health and well-being. Our programs, events and educational materials focus on breaking the cycle of food insecurity, poor nutrition, and the resulting health outcomes people experience who have poor access to fresh produce. These communities are called food deserts, and our garden is located in one of forty plus food deserts in Houston. We are committed to transforming lives through showing the connections between growing foods and their nutritional impact on health, wellbeing and life's possibilities.
