As part of our Rooted in Wellness cooking demo, it’s our pleasure to Introduce ReQuesia Jenkins (cooking demonstrator): Cancer Survivor, Gardener, and Advocate for Sustainable Living.

ReQuesia Jenkins is a remarkable individual whose life story is as inspiring as it is diverse. Having triumphed over cancer, she embodies resilience and hope. Her passion for gardening reflects her commitment to sustainable living, and as a cooking demonstrator, she shares her knowledge on how to prepare nutritious meals that are both delicious and environmentally conscious. ReQuesia’s journey and advocacy serve as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the importance of nurturing our planet.

Let’s come together to celebrate and learn about our planet. From interactive workshops to hands-on activities, this event is perfect for nature lovers of all ages. Event Made Possible By

We appreciate the support of all participants.

Beauty's Community Garden is located at 3201 Airline @ E. 32nd Street, in Independence Heights–the first African American municipality in Texas.  Our mission is to close the gap on food inequities and achieve a community culture of health and well-being. Our programs, events and educational materials focus on breaking the cycle of food insecurity, poor nutrition, and the resulting health outcomes people experience who have poor access to fresh produce. These communities are called food deserts, and our garden is located in one of forty plus food deserts in Houston. We are committed to transforming lives through showing the connections between growing foods and their nutritional impact on health, wellbeing and life's possibilities.

It's our pleasure to Introduce ReQuesia Jenkins (cooking demonstrator): Cancer Survivor, Gardener, and Advocate for Sustainable Living.

As a cancer survivor, she embodies strength and determination, inspiring others to embrace each day with gratitude and purpose. But ReQuesia's journey extends far beyond her battle with illness. A dedicated gardener, she finds solace and joy in nurturing the earth and cultivating her food. From tender seedlings to flourishing harvests, her garden is a testament to the power of resilience and renewal.
